Achenbach J.D. Wave Propagation In Elastic Solids
North-Holland, 1973. - 425 с.
Язык: Английский

The propagation of mechanical disturbances in solids is of interest in many branches of the physical scienses and engineering. This book aims to present an account of the theory of wave propagation in elastic solids. The material is arranged to present an exposition of the basic concepts of mechanical wave propagation within a one-dimensional setting and a discussion of formal aspects of elastodynamic theory in three dimensions, followed by chapters expounding on typical wave propagation phenomena, such as radiation, reflection, refraction, propagation in waveguides, and diffraction. The treatment necessarily involves considerable mathematical analysis. The pertinent mathematical techniques are, however, discussed at some length.

3ed. , Springer, AIP Press, 2003, p. 298 This is the third edition of our book Fundamentals of Ocean Acoustics, revised and supplemented, including much new material responding to the progress in the theory of sound propagation and scattering in the ocean over the last 10 years. New topics are devoted mainly to such questions as the intrathermocline lenses and their effect on sound fields in the ocean, weakly divergent bundles of rays, ocean...

This thoroughly revised and long awaited new edition builds on the success of the 1991 third edition. This classic reference text considers the theory and practice of sound behaviour in closed spaces; a key area for acoustical engineers worldwide. It is of particular interest to those working on auditoria and will therefore stand as an excellent complement to Barron's Auditorium Acoustics. This new edition includes important new material on the g...

The science of acoustics deals with the creation of sound, sound transmission through solids, and the effects of sound on both inert and living materials. As a mechanical effect, sound is essentially the passage of pressure fluctuations through matter as the result of vibrational forces acting on that medium. Sound possesses the attributes of wave phenomena, as do light and radio signals. But unlike its electromagnetic counterparts, sound cannot...
