Bertsekas D.P., Tsitsiklis J.N. Introduction to Probability
MIT, 2000. - 284 pages.

An intuitive, yet precise introduction to probability theory, stochastic processes, and probabilistic models used in science, engineering, economics, and related fields. This is the currently used textbook for "Probabilistic Systems Analysis, " an introductory probability course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, attended by a large number of undergraduate and graduate students. The book covers the fundamentals of probability theory (probabilistic models, discrete and continuous random variables, multiple random variables, and limit theorems), which are typically part of a first course on the subject. It also contains, a number of more advanced topics, from which an instructor can choose to match the goals of a particular course. These topics include transforms, sums of random variables, least squares estimation, the bivariate normal distribution, and a fairly detailed introduction to Beoulli, Poisson, and Markov processes. The book strikes a balance between simplicity in exposition and sophistication in analytical reasoning. Some of the more mathematically rigorous analysis has been just intuitively explained in the text, but is developed in detail (at the level of advanced calculus) in the numerous solved theoretical problems.

Cambridge University Press, 2005, Pages: 393. This text is designed both for students of probability and stochastic processes and for students of functional analysis. For the reader not familiar with functional analysis a detailed introduction to necessary notions and facts is provided. However, this is not a straight textbook in functional analysis; rather, it presents some chosen parts of functional analysis that help understand ideas from prob...

This classic book is intended to be the first introduction to probability and statistics written with an emphasis on the analytic approach to the problems discussed. Topics include the axiomatic setup of probability theory, polynomial distribution, finite Markov chains, distribution functions and convolution, the laws of large numbers (weak and strong), characteristic functions, the central limit theorem, infinitely divisible distributions, and M...

McGraw-Hill, 1998, 376 pages. The purpose of this book is to present a modern introduction to probability and statistics using background of calculus. For convenience the book is divided into two parts. The first deals with probability (and by itself can be used to provide an introduction to the subject), while the second deals with statistics. The book is designed to be used either as a textbook for formal course in probability and statistics or...

Wiley-Interscience, 608 pages, 1995. Now in its new third edition, Probability and Measure offers advanced students, scientists, and engineers an integrated introduction to measure theory and probability. Retaining the unique approach of the previous editions, this text interweaves material on probability and measure, so that probability problems generate an interest in measure theory and measure theory is then developed and applied to probabilit...
