John V. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Incompressible Flows: Analytical and Numerical Results for a Class of LES Models
Springer, 2004. 273 p. ISBN:3540406433

Large eddy simulation (LES) seeks to simulate the large structures of a turbulent flow. This is the first monograph which considers LES from a mathematical point of view. It concentrates on LES models for which mathematical and numerical analysis is already available and on related LES models. Most of the available analysis is given in detail, the implementation of the LES models into a finite element code is described, the efficient solution of the discrete systems is discussed and numerical studies with the considered LES models are presented.

Springer, 2005. 356 p. ISBN:3540263160 Large eddy simulation (LES) is a method of scientific computation seeking to predict the dynamics of organized structures in turbulent flows by approximating local, spatial averages of the flow. Since its birth in 1970, LES has undergone an explosive development and has matured into a highly-developed computational technology. It uses the tools of turbulence theory and the experience gained from practical...

Springer, 2004. - 118 Pages. In this book, after a brief review of the more popular turbulence models, we present and discuss accurate and efficient numerical methods for solving the boundary-layer equations with turbulence models based on algebraic formulas (mixing length, eddy viscosity) or partial-differential transport equations. A computer program employing the Cebeci-Smith model and the k-e model for obtaining the solution of two-dimensio...

This survey of the current state of the art in computational models for turbulent reacting flows carefully analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the various techniques described. Rodney Fox focuses on the formulation of practical models as opposed to numerical issues arising from their solution. He develops a theoretical framework based on the one-point, one-time joint probability...

Springer, 2008. 378 p. ISBN:140208577X Computational resources have developed to the level that, for the first time, it is becoming possible to apply large-eddy simulation (LES) to turbulent flow problems of realistic complexity. Many examples can be found in technology and in a variety of natural flows. This puts issues related to assessing, assuring, and predicting the quality of LES into the spotlight. Several LES studies have been published...
