Manevitch L.I., Gendelman O.V. (eds.) Tractable Models of Solid Mechanics: Formulation, Analysis and Interpretation
Springer, 2011. 363 p. ISBN-10:3642153712

This book describes significant tractable models used in solid mechanics - classical models used in mode mechanics as well as new ones. The models are selected to illustrate the main ideas which allow scientists to describe complicated effects in a simple manner and to clarify basic notations of solid mechanics. A model is considered to be tractable if it is based on clear physical assumptions which allow the selection of significant effects and relatively simple mathematical formulations. The first part of the book briefly reviews classical tractable models for a simple description of complex effects developed from the 18th to the 20th century and widely used in mode mechanics. The second part describes systematically the new tractable models used today for the treatment of increasingly complex mechanical objects – from systems with two degrees of freedom to three-dimensional continuous objects.

Springer, 2006. - 375 p. Today, Fracture Mechanics is a well known topic within the scientific community. Applications of Fracture Mechanics can be found in various fields ranging from solid mechanics and structures to materials sciences and computational mechanics. However, most of these results apply only to linear fracture mechanics of two-dimensional and homogeneous isotropic solids. Therefore there are still incompletely solved problems; s...

2nd edition, Springer Science+Business Media, 2007, 221 pages This book deals with the mechanics of solid bodies in contact, a subject intimately connected with such topics as fracture, hardness, and elasticity. Coverage begins with an introduction to the mechanical properties of materials, general fracture mechanics, and the fracture of brittle solids. It then provides a detailed description of indentation stress fields for both elastic and el...

Springer, 2002. -264p. Heterogeneity of a material or construction can be caused by two main reasons. Non-uniformity of certain physical characteristics (density, elastic modulus, con- conductivity, etc. ) is the first. Two- or multi-phase composites are typical examples of this type of material. The second origin of heterogeneity is a geometrical one. Re- Reinforcement of the shells and plates by stringers, discrete supports and other con-...

Монография. Boca Raton: CHAPMAN & HALL, 2004. – 685 с. Tremendous advances in computer technologies and methods have precipitated a great demand for refinements in the constitutive models of plasticity. Such refinements include the development of a model that would account for material anisotropy and produces results that compare well with experimental data. Key to developing such models-and to meeting many other challenges in the field- is a...
