Yu F.R. (Editor). Cognitive Radio Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, 2011. – 507 pages.
Cognitive radio (CR) is an enabling technology to allow unlicensed (secondary users to exploit the spectrum allocated to licensed (primary) users in an opportunistic manner. CR is widely considered as a promising technology to deal with the spectrum shortage problem caused by the current in?exible spectrum allocation policy It is capable of sensing its radio environment, and adaptively choosing transmission parameters according to sensing outcomes, which improves cognitive radio system performance and avoids interfering with primary users. CR has been considered in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), which enable wireless devices to dynamically establish networks without necessarily using a ?xed infrastructure. CR technology will have signi?cant impacts on the performance in wireless networks, especially in MANETs.

IEEE/ACM TRANSACTIONS ON NETWORKING, VOL. 13, NO. 1, FEBRUARY 2005. We consider the problem of wavelength assignment in reconfigurable WDM networks with wavelength converters. We then provide a second algorithm that uses more wavelengths yet requires significantly fewer converters. We also develop a method that allows the wavelength converters to be arbitrarily located at any node in the ring. This gives significant flexibility in the design of t...

CRC, 2004. - 672 pages. As the field of communications networks continues to evolve, the challenging area of wireless sensor networks is rapidly coming of age. Recent advances have made it possible to make sensor components more compact, robust, and energy efficient than ever, earning the idiosyncratic alias of Smart Dust. Production has also improved, yielding larger, more cost-efficient quantities for specialized telecommunications application...

Издательство Springer, 2010, -441 pp. Communication networks are a vital and crucial element of today’s world. Mobile devices, the Internet, and all new applications and services provided by these media have changed dramatically the way both individual lives and society as a whole are organized. All these services depend on fast and reliable data connections, whether wired or wireless. To meet such requirements, information and communication tec...

IEEE/ACM TRANSACTIONS ON NETWORKING, VOL. 13, NO. 1, FEBRUARY 2005. We study fairness of resource allocation in multirate, multicast networks. In multirate networks, different receivers of the same multicast session can receive service at different rates. We develop a mathematical framework to model the maxmin fair allocation of bandwidth with minimum and maximum rate constraints. We present a necessary and sufficient condition for a rate allocat...

Издательство Springer, 1998, -241 pp. During the last decade, the need for realizing communication in networks has grown enormously. The use of telecommunication networks, local area computer networks, or wide area networks like the Internet is growing rapidly, and the current trend to integrate different types of data like text, audio, or video is further increasing the demand for high bandwidth, low latency communication networks. Similarly, t...

433 pages published 2011 Wi-Fi has become the preferred means for connecting to the internet - at home, in the office, in hotels and at airports. Increasingly, Wi-Fi also provides internet access for remote communities where it is deployed by volunteers in community-based networks, by operators in 'hotspots' and by municipalities in 'hotzones'. This book traces the global success of Wi-Fi to the landmark change in radio spectrum policy by the US...
