Dilao R., Alves-Pires R. Nonlinear Dynamics in Particle Accelerators
World Scientific Publishing, 1996, 223 pages

This book is an introductory course to accelerator physics at the level of graduate students. It has been written for a large audience which includes users of accelerator facilities, accelerator physicists and engineers, and undergraduates aiming to lea the basic principles of construction, operation and applications of accelerators. The new concepts of dynamical systems developed in the last 20 years give the theoretical setting to analyze the stability of particle beams in acclerator. In this book a common language to both accelerator physics and dynamical systems is integrated and developed, aiming to eliminate the difficulties faced by accelerator physicists, engineers and applied mathematicians when they try to join efforts in the attempt to control the nonlinearities disturbing particle beams.

Wiley-VCH, 2009, 767 pages Spallation research is based on nuclear reaction mechanism called spallation as a source of an enormous radiation of many different particles such as neutrons, protons, pions, muons, electrons, photons, charged particles, and neutrinos. Originally the occurrence of spallation reactions was first recognized in astrophysics. Most of the early systematic research on spallation processes was done at highenergy accelerators...

Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2011, 222 pages The Nordic mythological Cosmic Serpent, Ouroboros, is said to be coiled in the depths of the sea, surrounding the Earth with its tail in its mouth. In physics, this snake is a metaphor for the Universe, where the head, symbolizing the largest entity – the Cosmos – is one with the tail, symbolizing the smallest – the fundamental particle. Particle accelerators, colliders and detectors are built by physici...
