Zecchina A., Bordiga S., Groppo E. (Eds.) Selective Nanocatalysts and Nanoscience: Concepts for Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Catalysis
Wiley-VCH, 2011, 332 pages

Filling a gap in the catalysis and nano literature, this monograph is unique in focusing on both nanostructured heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.
As such, it describes a selection of heterogeneous catalysts in use, showing that the dimension of the relevant portions of the catalysts are always in the 1-100 nm range, and so may be properly understood as nanomachines for the chemical manipulation of molecules to perform high precision selective synthesis. The prominent inteational authors then go on to show that the concept of nanoscience can be equally applied to artificial homogeneous catalysts whose active sites are generally considered as "single-sites" having a "molecular" dimension.

The result is an excellent overview of such hot topics as nanoparticles, MOFs and more, making this indispensable reading for catalytic and organic chemists, as well as those working on organometallics.

RSC Publishing, 2008. - 240 p. - Nanocatalysis is one of the most exciting subfields to have emerged from nanoscience. Its central aim is the control of chemical reactions by changing the size, dimensionality, chemical composition and morphology of the reaction center and by changing the kinetics using nanopatterning of the reaction centers. This opens up new avenues for atom-by-atom design of nanocatalysts with distinct and tunable chemical acti...

Oxford University Press, 2010, 457 pages Nanoscience is not physics, chemistry, engineering or biology. It is all of them, and it is time for a text that integrates the disciplines. This is such a text, aimed at advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students in the sciences. The consequences of smallness and quantum behaviour are well known and described Richard Feynman's visionary essay 'There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom' (which is...

Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 2010, 771 pages Nanoscience stands out for its interdisciplinarity. Barriers between disciplines disappear and the fields tend to converge at the very smallest scale, where basic principles and tools are universal. Novel properties are inherent to nanosized systems due to quantum effects and a reduction in dimensionality: nanoscience is likely to continue to revolutionize many areas of human activity, such as materials s...

Taylor & Francis Group, LLC, second ed. , 2008, 1080 p. Preface The first edition of the Handbook of Nanoscience, Engineering, and Technology was published in early 2003, reflecting many of the nanoscience possibilities envisioned by Richard Feynman in his 1959 address, There is Plenty of Room at the Bottom. In his address, Feynman speculated about what might be on the molecular scale, and challenged the technical community to find ways of...
