Ditlevsen P.D Turbulence and Shell Models
Cambridge University Press, 2011. 168 p. ISBN: 0521190363

Turbulence is a huge subject of ongoing research. This book bridges the mode development in dynamical systems theory and the theory of fully developed turbulence. Many solved and unsolved problems in turbulence have equivalencies in simple dynamical models, which are much easier to handle analytically and numerically. This book gives a mode view of the subject by first giving the essentials of the theory of turbulence before moving on to shell models. These show much of the same complex behaviour as fluid turbulence, but are much easier to handle analytically and numerically. Any necessary maths is explained and self-contained, making this book ideal for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, as well as researchers and professionals, wanting to understand the basics of fully developed turbulence.

Springer, 2004. - 118 Pages. In this book, after a brief review of the more popular turbulence models, we present and discuss accurate and efficient numerical methods for solving the boundary-layer equations with turbulence models based on algebraic formulas (mixing length, eddy viscosity) or partial-differential transport equations. A computer program employing the Cebeci-Smith model and the k-e model for obtaining the solution of two-dimensio...

Begell House, 2003. 8 p. Abstract This document describes the current formulation of the SST turbulence models, as well as a number of model enhancements. The model enhancements cover a modified near wall treatment of the equations, hich allows for a more flexible grid generation process and a zonal DES formulation, which reduces the problem of grid induced separation for industrial flow simulations. Results for a complete aircraft configurati...

Elsevier Science, 2002. 1020 p. ISBN: 0080441149 Turbulence is one of the key issues in tackling engineering flow problems. As powerful computers and accurate numerical methods are now available for solving the flow equations, and since engineering applications nearly always involve turbulence effects, the reliability of CFD analysis depends increasingly on the performance of the turbulence models.

Each of these various methods has its own specific performances and limitations, which appear to be complementary rather than...
