New York, Toronto, London: MGH, 1957. - 380 c.
Язык: Английский

This work is the outgrowth of a plan to make a uniform presentation of the investigations on earthquake seismology, underwater sound, and model seismology carried on by the group connected with Lamont Geological Observatory of Columbia University. The scope was subsequently enlarged to cover a particular selection of related problems. The methods and results of the theory of wave propagation in layered media are important in seismology, in geophysical prospecting, and in many problems of acoustics and electromagnetism.

CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, 2011, 696 pages Ultrasonic irradiation and the associated sonochemical and sonophysical effects are complementary techniques for driving more efficient chemical reactions and yields. Sonochemistry—the chemical effects and applications of ultrasonic waves—and sustainable (green) chemistry both aim to use less hazardous chemicals and solvents, reduce energy consumption, and increase product selectivity. This thoroughly revised and long awaited new edition builds on the success of the 1991 third edition. This classic reference text considers the theory and practice of sound behaviour in closed spaces; a key area for acoustical engineers worldwide. It is of particular interest to those working on auditoria and will therefore stand as an excellent complement to Barron's Auditorium Acoustics. This new edition includes important new material on the g...
