Foxvog D.A. Introduction to Sumerian grammar
Foxvog D.A. Introduction to Sumerian grammar. — 2010. — 170 p.

This grammar is intended primarily for use in the first year of university study under the guidance of a teacher who can describe the classic problems in greater detail, add current alteative explanations for phenomena, help the student parse and understand the many textual illustrations found throughout, and provide supplementary information about the history of the language and the culture of early Mesopotamia. A few exercises have been provided to accompany study of the lessons, some artificial, others drawn from actual texts. Both require vocabulary lookup from the companion Elementary Sumerian Glossary or its equivalent. Upon completing this introduction, the student will be well prepared to progress to sign leaing and reading of texts. Konrad Volk's A Sumerian Reader (Studia Pohl Series Maior 18, Rome, 1997-) is a good beginning.
This introduction may also be of benefit to those who have already leaed some Sumerian more or less inductively through the reading of simple royal inscriptions and who would now like a more structured review of its grammar, with the help of abundant textual illustrations, from something a bit more practical and pedagogically oriented than the available reference grammars.

Edzard D.O. Sumerian grammar. – Boston_Leiden: Brill, 2003. - 212 p. ISBN 90-04-12608-2 Dietz Edzard's Sumerian Grammar is not a book for an absolute beginner. You will not learn to translate a Sumerian text from this book. There are no vocabulary lists or exercises and there are only two cuneiform characters in the entire book. But that is fine since this book is not aimed at a begining student. Instead, Dr. Edzard has written a book that is...

LOT, 2010. - 776 p. This grammar has been long in the making. After my graduation in 1988, I wanted to do a PhD on the grammar of the Old Sumerian texts from Lagash, with the aim to write a synchronic grammar of a single Sumerian dialect. Help came from many directions. Theo Krispijn shared with me his lists of verbal forms and his glossary of the Gudea texts. Gebhard Selz was most generous with manuscripts of Old Sumerian texts editions he was...

Date: 2008 Pages: 348 pages Format: PDF The so-called Sumerian conjugation prefixes are the most poorly understood and perplexing elements of Sumerian verbal morphology. Approaching the problem from a functional-typological perspective and basing the analysis upon semantics, Professor Woods argues that these elements, in their primary function, constitute a system of grammatical voice, in which the active voice is set against the middle voice....
