The studies carried out enable one to draw a conclusion that chitosan possesses very good structurizing properties, which allows its usage for intensifying the process of chromium tanning owing to decreasing the consumption of chromium salts and, at the same time, increasing the shrinkage temperature of leather. It has been established that chitosan consumption influences hydrothermal resistance of raw hides. Leather treated with 2% chitosan and one and half as little again chromium compounds as it is provided by the conventional technology had shrinkage temperature higher by 6 оС, the degree of exhaustion of tanning solution being higher by 12 %. Хитозан – это производное соединение от природного полисахарида хитина, широкое применение которого связано с его огромными сорбционными свойствами. Сырьем для получения хитина являются насекомые, грибы, ракообразные. Крупнейшим производителем хитина и хитозана в мире является Китай благодаря дальневосточным запасам хитинсодержащего сырья.
