Wing O. Classical Circuit Theory
Springer 2008
p.305

Classical circuit theory is a mathematical theory of linear, passive circuits, namely, circuits composed of resistors, capacitors and inductors. Like many a thing classical, it is old and enduring, structured and precise, simple and elegant. It is simple in that everything in it can be deduced from ?rst principles based on a few physical laws. It is enduring in that the things we can say about linear, passive circuits are universally true, unchanging. No matter how complex a circuit may be, as long as it consists of these three kinds of elements, its behavior must be as prescribed by the theory. The theory tells us what circuits can and cannot do.
As expected of any good theory, classical circuit theory is also useful. Its ultimate application is circuit design. The theory leads us to a design methodology that is systematic and precise. It is based on just two fundamental theorems: that the impedance function of a linear, passive circuit is a positive real function, and that the transfer function is a bounded real function, of a complex variable.

25 страниц. Статья по применению продукции Fairchild Semiconductor. Application Note AN-3008. RC networks are used to control voltage transients that could falsely turn-on a thyristor. These networks are called snubbers. The simple snubber consists of a series resistor and capacitor placed around the thyristor. These components along with the load inductance form a series CRL circuit. Snubber theory follows from the solution of the circuit’s di...

11 страниц IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Vol. 16, No. 4, July 2001 Various aspects of averaged modeling of hardswitching pulse-width modulated (PWM) converters operating in the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) are studied. A more streamlined modeling procedure is proposed which serves as a general framework for comparing different models. A duty ratio constraint that defines the diode conduction interval is identified to be the key t...

Published by Newnes Third edition 1997. Transferred to digital printing 2003 ISBN 0 7506 2926 6 p. 450 There have been many developments in the field of power electronics since the publication of the second edition, almost five years ago. Devices have become bigger and better - bigger silicon die, and current and voltage ratings. However, semiconductor devices have also become smaller and better, integrated circuit devices, that is. And the marr...

First published in Great Britain and the United States in 2009 by ISTE Ltd and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. p. 570 Electrical consumption, especially direct or variable frequency currents, has strongly increased over 50 years in industry. This situation explains the growth of power electronics. At the beginning, when rectifiers replaced DC machines, only diodes and thyristors were used. Then power transistors appeared and enabled the extension...
