Yamamoto Y., Tassone F., Cao H. Semiconductor Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics
Springer, 2000, 144 pages

Recent advances in semiconductor technology have made it possible to fabricate microcavity structures in which both photon fields and electron-hole pairs (or excitons) are confined in a small volume comparable to their wavelength. The radiative properties of the electron-hole pairs and excitons are modified owing to the drastic change in the structure of the electromagnetic-field modes. This book is the first to give a comprehensive account of the theory of semiconductor cavity quantum electrodynamics for such systems in the weak-coupling and strong-coupling regimes. The important concepts are presented, together with relevant, recent experimental results

2nd ed. - Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 2010, 570 p. This book presents a detailed description of the basic physics of semiconductors. All the important equations describing the properties of these materials are derived without the help of other textbooks. The reader is assumed to have only a basic command of mathematics and some elementary semiconductor physics. The text covers a wide range of important semiconductor phenomena, from the simple to the...

2004. - 453 p. The electronic properties of semiconductors form the basis of the latest and current technological revolution, the development of ever smaller and more powerful computing devices, which affect not only the potential of modern science but practically all aspects of our daily life. This dramatic development is based on the ability to engineer the electronic properties of semiconductors and to miniaturize devices down to the limits se...

2nd ed. Springer, 2005. - 797 p. The book on Semiconductor Optics has been favourably received by the students and the scientific community worldwide. After the first edition, which appeared in 1995 several reprints became necessary starting from 1997, one of them for the Chinese market. They contained only rather limited updates of the material and corrections. In the meantime scientific progress brought a lot of new results, which necessitate a...

1999. - 436 p. This book, then, is written primarily for the postgraduate student and the experimentalist. It attempts to set out the theory of those basic quantum-mechanical processes in homogeneous semiconductors which are most relevant to applied semiconductor physics. Therefore the subject matter is concentrated almost exclusively on electronic processes. Thus no mention is made of phonon-phonon interactions, nor is the optical absorption by...

Cambridge University Press; 2 edition, 2009, 409 pages Advances in nanotechnology have generated semiconductor structures that are only a few molecular layers thick, and this has important consequences for the physics of electrons and phonons in such structures. This book describes in detail how confinement of electrons and phonons in quantum wells and wires affects the physical properties of the semiconductor. This second edition contains fou...
