Dewulf J., Langenhove H. (Eds.) Renewables-Based Technology: Sustainability Assessment
John Wiley & Sons, 2006. 384 p. ISBN-10:0470022418

Sustainability is a key driving force for industries in the chemical, food, packaging, agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors, and quantitative sustainability indicators are being incorporated into company reports. This is driving the uptake of renewable resources and the adoption of renewables.
Renewables' can either be the substituted raw materials that are used in a given industry, (e.g. the use of biomass for fuel); the use and/or modification of a crop for use in a new industry (e.g. plant cellulose), or the reuse of a waste product (e.g. organic waste for energy production).

CRC, 2010. 364 p. ISBN:0415876281. Renewable fuels, such as wind, solar, biomass, tides, and geothermal, are inexhaustible, indigenous, and often free. However, capturing them and transforming them into electricity, hydrogen, or clean transporation fuels often is not. Green Energy: Technology, Economics, and Policy addresses how to approach and apply technology, economics, and policy to bring down the costs involved with renewables, the most im...

Over several decades, models, techniques and application tools were developed that recognised the central nature of generation, and there are many excellent texts that relate to and describe the assessment of such systems. However, some very specific features of distributed generation, namely that large numbers of relatively small generators are dis...
