Even in the 21st century the theory of figures has certain aspects calling for further consideration. This conces, in particular, the problems of taxonomy, nomination, principles of classification and interpretation. The dichotomies figure/trope, metaphor/metonymy, direct/figurative, rhetorical/stylistic remain valid.
