Xing Zh., Zhou Sh. Neutrinos in Particle Physics, Astronomy and Cosmology
Zhejiang University Press, Hangzhou and Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 2011, 426 pages

"Neutrinos in Particle Physics, Astronomy and Cosmology" provides a comprehensive and up-to-date introduction to neutrino physics, neutrino astronomy and neutrino cosmology. The intrinsic properties and fundamental interactions of neutrinos are described, as is the phenomenology of lepton flavor mixing, seesaw mechanisms and neutrino oscillations. The cosmic neutrino background, stellar neutrinos, supeova neutrinos and ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos, together with the cosmological matter-antimatter asymmetry and other roles of massive neutrinos in cosmology, are discussed in detail. This book is intended for researchers and graduate students in the fields of particle physics, particle astrophysics and cosmology.
The text of this book can be divided into two parts: the first part consists of chapters 1—5 and is devoted to neutrino physics, and the second part is composed of chapters 6—11 and devoted to neutrino astronomy and neutrino cosmology.

Cambridge University Press; 2 edition, 2007, 272 pages The new edition of this introductory graduate textbook provides a concise but accessible introduction to the Standard Model. It has been updated to account for the successes of the theory of strong interactions, and the observations on matter-antimatter asymmetry. It has become clear that neutrinos are not mass-less, and this book gives a coherent presentation of the phenomena and the theo...

Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2011, 222 pages The Nordic mythological Cosmic Serpent, Ouroboros, is said to be coiled in the depths of the sea, surrounding the Earth with its tail in its mouth. In physics, this snake is a metaphor for the Universe, where the head, symbolizing the largest entity – the Cosmos – is one with the tail, symbolizing the smallest – the fundamental particle. Particle accelerators, colliders and detectors are built by physici...

Amer. J. of Phys. — 1970. — Vol. 38, № 12 — P. 1380 — 1389. Many entities in physics have both particlelike and wavelike properties. In representing the particlelike properties physicists usually use words ending in -ON. The originators of the concept underlying the particle nature, and the coiners of the name are discussed for the following "particles": boson, electron, exiton, fermion, magnon, neutron, phonon, photon, plasmon, polariton, polaro...
