Zhao Donglin, M?ller-Steinhagen Hans and Smith John M. A new reaction pair for micromixing measurements in gas-liquid systems with large vapour generation
This paper presents details of a new test reaction system suitable for sparged aqueous
systems at temperatures up to 100oC. This system, which is easy to use, provides the basis
for experiments carried out in a standard semi-batch stirred tank reactor agitated with a
Chemineer CD-6 hollow-blade impeller. The quantitative characterisation provided by
liquid micromixing sheds light on the effect of temperature, and hence vapour pressure, in
the operation of gas-liquid reactors.

Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. 1999, 38, 1075-1082 The mixing quality of a single mixing unit and mixer arrays having various designs was characterized. A known test reaction for mixing quality had to be optimized, since a much higher sensitivity as for the characterization of macroscopic mixers was needed. This adapted test reaction allowed not only the characterization of the mixing quality but also analysis of the homogeneity of the flow distribution b...

ISBN: 1441974784 Modeling Multiphase Materials Processes: Gas-Liquid Systems describes the methodology and application of physical and mathematical modeling to multi-phase flow phenomena in materials processing. The book focuses on systems involving gas-liquid interaction, the most prevalent in current metallurgical processes. The performance characteristics of these processes are largely dependent on transport phenomena....

This is the companion volume for the introductory text Fundamentals of Reaction Engineering, which covers the basic elements of chemical reactor design. The solved problems cover material and energy balances in simple flow systems and non-ideal flow. Exothermic-reversible reactions have been handled with solutions involving staged reactor systems. Problems on heat and mass transfer to/from catalyst...

Chemical Engineering Communications, (2001) The DISMT (Dual Indicator System for Mixing Time) mixing time/distance diagnostic encodes semi-quantitative visualization of liquid/liquid mixing processes in color changes. In DISMT, two liquids, one red and one blue, are mixed to produce a yellow liquid. Through appropriate choice of the acid-base indicators used, and the initial pH’s of the two solutions, the yellow liquid appears only in those regi...

Chemical Engineering Science 56 (2001) 2459-2473 Experiments on semibatch reaction crystallization of benzoic acid are reported. The conditions in an agitated tank are simulated by a loop reactor by which feed point mixing conditions can be controlled separately from the macroscale circulation rate. Hydrochloric acid is fed into a circulating solution of sodium benzoate and the influence of macromixing, mesomixing and micromixing on the product...
