Bernstein J. Kinetic Theory in the Expanding Universe
CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS, Cambridge, 1988, 149 Pages

Kinetic Theory in the Expanding Universe is a self-contained exposition of the applications of kinetic theory to basic problems in mode cosmology, such as the role of stable and unstable massive neutrinos and the theory of cosmological helium production. There has been rapid development of the theory of the origin and evolution of the universe in recent years, stimulated, in large part, by new observations and theories in astrophysics and particle physics. Bestein takes a different approach and studies what can be concluded from the application of kinetic theory, and in particular the Boltzmann equation and its solutions, to cosmological problems. He begins with a brief survey of the necessary relativity, cosmodynamics, and kinetic theory, before going on to discuss specific problems, such as the role of stable and unstable massive neutrinos, electron-positron annihilation and the theory of cosomological helium production. The focus is in obtaining both a theoretical understanding and concrete numerical results.

The currently accepted framework of how the Universe began and subsequently evolved is a collection of interrelated theories known generically as the Big Bang. It is this collection of the theories which we will be presenting in this book.

Cambridge University Press, 2000, 326 Pages Molecular hydrogen is the most abundant molecule in the Universe. In recent years, advances in theory and laboratory experiments coupled with breakthrough observations with important new telescopes and satellites have revolutionized our understanding of molecular hydrogen in space. It is now possible to address the question of how molecular hydrogen formed in the early Universe and the role it played in...

Cambridge University Press, 2010. - 205 pp. Most astronomers and physicists now believe that the matter content of the Universe is dominated by dark matter: hypothetical particles which interact with normal matter primarily through the force of gravity. Though invisible to current direct detection methods, dark matter can explain a variety of astronomical observations. This book describes how this theory has developed over the past 75 years, and...
