Chang Ch.-P., Ding Y., Lau N.-Ch., Johnson R.H., Wang B., Yasunari T. (Eds.) The Global Monsoon System: Research and Forecast
2nd Edition, World Scientific Publishing , 2011, 594 pages

This book presents a current review of the science of monsoon research and forecasting. The contents are based on the invited reviews presented at the World Meteorological Organization's Fourth Inteational Workshop on Monsoons in late 2008, with subsequent manuscripts revised from 2009 to early 2010. The book builds on the concept that the monsoons in various parts of the globe can be viewed as components of an integrated global monsoon system, while emphasizing that significant region-specific characteristics are present in individual monsoon regions. The topics covered include all major monsoon regions and time scales (mesoscale, synoptic, intraseasonal, interannual, decadal, and climate change). It is intended to provide an updated comprehensive review of the current status of knowledge, modeling capability, and future directions in the research of monsoon systems around the world.

Wilеy-Blаckwell, 2008, 276 pages Whilst there is now overwhelming evidence that greenhouse-gas pollution is becoming the dominant process responsible for global warming, it is also clear that the climate system varies quite naturally on different time-scales. Predicting the course of future climate change consequently requires an understanding of the natural variability of the climate system as well as the effects of human-induced change. This...

Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, New York, 2002, 410 pp. - ISBN-13 978-0-521-81210-8 The critical role of trace gases in global atmospheric change makes an improved understanding of these gases imperative. Measurements of the distributions of these gases in space and time provide important information, but the interpretation of this information often involves ill-conditioned model inversions. Various techniques have therefore been developed...

Cambridge University Press, 1995, 422 Pages This book gives an account of the modern view of the global circulation of the atmosphere. It accounts for the observed nature of the circulation and theories and simple models of the mechanisms that drive it. Early chapters concentrate on the classical view of the global circulation, on the processes that generate atmospheric motions, and on the dynamical constraints that modify them. Later chapters...

De Gruyter, 2011. - 720 pages Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the modern world. The chemistry of the air within the framework of the climate system forms the main focus of this monograph. This problem-based approach to presenting global atmospheric processes begins with the chemical evolution of the climate system in order to evaluate the effects of changing air composition as well as possibilities for interference within...

Academic Press, 2011. - 704 pages. 3rd Edition Fundamentally, statistics is concerned with managing data and making inferences and forecasts in the face of uncertainty. It should not be surprising, therefore, that statistical methods have a key role to play in the atmospheric sciences. It is the uncertainty in atmospheric behavior that continues to move research forward and drive innovations in atmospheric modeling and prediction. This revise...
