Real Voices is 100% unscripted. This means that they show some features
of spoken English which students encounter outside the classroom and
generally find challenging, e.g. elision (missing out sounds), linking,
hesitations, false starts, redundancy and colloquial expressions.
The Real Voices series is carefully designed to include both native and
fluent non-native English speakers, reflecting the fact that most of the
English spoken nowadays is between non-native speakers of English. The book is designed for Intermediate (B1 / B2) level students, and contains three authentic listening texts featuring two native speakers and one competent non-native speaker, in order to allow students to prepare themselves for varieties of English spoken as a global language. The listening texts are accompanied by a wide variety of focused exercises, from which students and teachers can make a selection, depending on the needs. The book also contains verbatim transcripts and useful glossaries.
