This text is designed to serve as a one semester introduction to trigonometry and its applications for college students.
It is assumed that students have basic skills in solving linear and quadratic equations, working with radicals, and simple graphing as well as some acquaintance with, and access to, a scientific calculator.
There is no separate chapter of review material. Most students react negatively to such a chapter, and many teachers get bogged down in unnecessary details in such a chapter. In this book, material is reviewed as it is encountered during the exposition of the new material. Focusing on old skills when they become necessary provides a more interesting sequence for students. The best motivation for reviewing something is the fact that it is needed to lea something new. Examples go out of their way to review the algebraic skills being applied, as they first arise.
