Учебное пособие "Читаем японские статьи о криминальных происшествиях" представляет из себя хрестоматию коротких японских газетных статей с переводом на английский и словарем к каждой статье. Все виды криминала: от поджогов до убийств.
My target audience is the foreign student of Japanese, not necessarily living in Japan, who has already invested some full or part-time years of study in leaing how to read. This means that the hiragana and katakana scripts hold no mysteries, and the student should be able to recognise the greater part of the Jōyō Kanji.( defined by the Japanese Ministry of Education in 1981 as the 1945 characters which must be used in legal and govement documents, in newspapers, magazines and by the public in general). I wish to be no more prescriptive than this.
One of the main benefits of being able to read newspaper texts is that the student is freed from the dreary round of prescribed passages. The student can instead achieve mastery of the prescribed kanji set by the daily reading of news articles which are short, simple, and above all, interesting. A virtuous circle develops where the increasing ability of the student creates a thirst for reading more articles, which in tu increases the student’s population of known kanji.
