Sprott J.C. Elegant Chaos: Algebraically Simple Chaotic Flows
World Scientific Publishing Company, 2010. - 304 pages.

This heavily illustrated book collects in one source most of the mathematically simple systems of differential equations whose solutions are chaotic. It includes the historically important systems of van der Pol, Duffing, Ueda, Lorenz and many others, but it goes on to show that there are many other systems that are simpler and more elegant. Many of these systems have been only recently discovered and are not widely known. Most cases include plots of the attractor and calculations of the spectra of Lyapunov exponents. Some important cases include graphs showing the route to chaos. The book includes many cases not previously published as well as examples of simple electronic circuits that exhibit chaos.

No existing book thus far focuses on mathematically elegant chaotic systems. This book should therefore be of interest to chaos researchers looking for simple systems to use in their studies, to instructors who want examples to teach and motivate students, and to students doing independent study.

Название: Lorenz E. , The Essence of Chaos. Издательство: University of Washington. Год: 1996. ISBN-10: 0295975148. The study of chaotic systems has become a major scientific pursuit in recent years, shedding light on the apparently random behaviour observed in fields as diverse as climatology and mechanics. InThe Essence of Chaos Edward Lorenz, one of the founding fathers of Chaos and the originator of its seminal concept of the Butterfly Effect...

Surveying both theoretical and experimental aspects of chaotic behavior, this book presents chaos as a model for many seemingly random processes in nature. Basic notions from the theory of dynamical systems, bifurcation theory and the properties of chaotic solutions are then described and illustrated by examples. A review of numerical methods used both in studies of mathematical models and in the i...

Princeton University Press, 1991. - 214 pages. How do scientists look at chance, or randomness, and chaos in physical systems? In answering this question for a general audience, Ruelle writes in the best French tradition: he has produced an authoritative and elegant book--a model of clarity, succinctness, and a humor bordering at times on the sardonic. "Chance has its reason, " says Petronius, but we may ask: what reason? and what is chance? h...

Oxford University Press, 2007, 180 pages Chaos exists in systems all around us. Even the simplest system can be subject to chaos, denying us accurate predictions of its behavior, and sometimes giving rise to astonishing structures of large-scale order. Here, Leonard Smith shows that we all have an intuitive understanding of chaotic systems. He uses accessible math and physics to explain Chaos Theory, and points to numerous examples in philosoph...
